The success-of the program is due one Mr. Al Richardson, Midwestern's Intramural Di- rector, whose undying efforts led to the successful year and the promise of a better 1958. Of the some-odd ten Intramural events that made up the program, probably those which created the most interest and keenest competition were the two bowling leagues. The Aces won the Men's league, but only by a single game over a hard-pressing Stud trio. The Strik- ers, after getting off to a slow start at the beginning, climbed steadily throughout the sea- son and emerged victorious in the final analysis. . The Intramural touch-football league was composed of six teams, and Memorial Hall dominated the lead spot from start to finish. During the first half of the season, the Vets looked as if they would make it a raceg but when they met the D-Hall crew, it was Daniel Hall all the way. The basketball league created quite an interest, but Memorial Hall seemed to have more interest than the other live teams, for they swept the championship without a single defeat. Boland, Director The Midwestern University Choir is. a selected concert group of sixty voices. It is much in demand and represents the university at many conventions and other important gather- ings. The choir tours each spring. Members of this popular organization are students from all departments of the Uni- versity who have been selected by audition with the director. Their annual Christmas Assembly Concert was presented before a large audience of students-and townspeople. Their 3-day spring tour included performances before several high schools and civic organizations. The last appearance of the year was its traditional par- ticipation in the graduation exercises. Socially, the choir annually enjoys several informal parties as well as an annual ban- quet and an annual picnic. 'f,.:: Mrs. Glendenning, head of the Placement Gffice, decided she needed a new opening for someone. Males of the campus either ran for the hills, or stood waiting with open arms to welcome the arrival of Twirp week, de- pending on their personality. Females ran rampant for one week, before going back to servility. In good Dogpatch fashion, complete with Kickapoo Joy Juice, Marrin' Sam and all, the week began March 3 with a Sadie Haw- kins Day Dance. The girls arrived at La Chateau in a City Garbage truck, and de- scended on the males. Following was the race and the marriage. To solemnize the occasion, a Blue Wed- nesday dance was held, with the uncaught males wearing black in mourning for the poor souls that had been caught, The affair was sponsored by the Boot and Spur and the Spurettes.
