JAMES B. BOREN, PH.D. President of Midwestern University MIDWESTERN UNIVERSITY WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS annual message Dear Fellow Students: The dignity of man is to be found in the freedom of his spirit. No chain can bind, no wall can hold, and no power can suppress the inalienable rights that are vested in man by his Creator. The greatness of our nation is to be found in the framework of our government where the people, mosaics of God, preserve and perpetuate the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, the freedom of assembly, and the free- dom of the press. Wherever there is an individual, an agency, or a force that threatens to destroy these principles of our country, that individual, that agency, that force should be restrained. We must tell the story of America with its great righteous ideals, with its glorious opportunity for creative endeavor, with its rugged individualism, with its courageous spirit of freedom and daring. We must tell it again and again in the classrooms, on the streets, and in the shops until the people of this great nation will say Like a mighty Army move the citizens of America. We must put it in the books, we must put it in the news- papers, we must put it on the screen, we must put it on the radio. We must tell this glorious story of our remarkable heritage until every child that comes our way will feel the impact of this influence that comes directly from the very altars of the Creator himself. ln the name of God we must protect our heritage against every peril that threatens its exist- ence, because in it and through it we emulate those virtues that make life worth living. Yours sincerely, lames B. Boren President
