JUNIOR HIGH ACTIVITIES The total enrollment of the junior High for '49 was fifty-five pupils, Thirty being in the eighth grade, and twenty-five in the seventh grade. During the fall of the year we had a group picnic, with pop and cake for refreshments. Everybody was kept busy and had a wonderful time. Now we are planning a canteen party, a lot of food, and a very good time. Mr. Bush, our basketball coach, has started training the boys. All of the eighth grade boys are out for practice and many of the seventh grade too. We hope to have a very good team and a successful season. Our pep club meets every Tuesday at 12:25. We elected Lois Shoop, President, and Connie Kinion, Eunice Kieffer, and Charlene Shoop as Cheer- leaders. We'll all do our part in winning the games if cheering the boys helps at all. Mr. Gilbertson has been reading parts of operettas to us, and we are try- ing to decide if we will want to give one of them. We'll probably select and start working on one soon. SOPHOMORES Once there was a boy who lived with his mother. They lived in an old, old house. They had to work all the time. One day the mother said to the Boy, We have little to eat, but take the bowl and get some meal from the barn. I will make some meal cakes. The boy went to the barn to get the meal. He put the meal into the bowl and started back to the house. just then the North Wind came. The North Wind took the meal out of the bowl. Away the North Wind went with the meal. The Boy went back to the barn to get some meal. Again the North Wind took the meal out of the bowl. The Boy went again to the barn for meal. And then the North Wind took the meal out of the bowl. Then there wasn't any meal in the barn. The Boy said to his mother, It is not right for the North Wind to take the meal. We do not have a thing to eat. I will go to the North Wind. I will tell the North Wind to give the meal back.
