He was stricken by a strange malady in his childhdod, leaving his eyes so weak that he is unable to stand even the dull light of a cloudy day. For this reason Elba has gone to nightschool for the past fouryears at M.H.S. and since he was the only student attending he became rather backward. So much so that now he spells his first and last names backward. To those of us who know him, he has become endeared to our hearts by virtue of his grim determination to gain an education. In spite of all the odds against him, Qremember there was nobody near his exam desk from which to copy exam answersj, he has come through 4years of heartbreak and toil to earn his diploma. He is one ofthe outstanding 49'ers as this annual will demonstrate. 4g M Club 2,3,-43 jan. 45 Bus
