More than just those things we read in books . . . people we asked for help, we compared our lessons . . . learning to accept an education rather than reject it . . . long hours of lectures . . . many pages of scribbled notes that did us no good because our handwriting became extremely sloppy as we tried to get down every detail . . . nights that drifted into morning finding us waiting till the last minute to read our non-fiction for a book report . . . telephone conversations about algebra that left us more confused than before we began . . . headaches that developed from essays, pop tests and our not-a-minute-to-spare agendas . . . we've come from 2 + 2 to the square root of 2. . . . from using a period at the end of a sentence to diagraming one . . . from prehistoric man to ' Armstrong's walk on the moon . . . we came from having our mittens pinned to our coats to learning responsibility . . . and from telling time to judging character . . . everyday people learning every day. 16 0 introduction 55555555555 555555.
