'ff I.- 1972 conqueror With all the emphasis on progress and the contrast between old and new it would be unspeakable to overlook the men who made it all possible. Though the member- ship of the school 's Board of Trustees changes from year to year, their basic aim remains the same. To them the work of the Lord through Midwest Christian College is paramount. Each brick that has been laid, each beam that has been placed, and each finishing touch that has been applied to the new classroom administration building would not have been reality had it not been for all the men with foresight and dedication who led the march toward progress in the past twenty-five years. The faculty, staff, and student body of Midwest Christian College is proud of the new facilities provided in the current building program. To the leaders who made it all possible through the grace of God we dedicate this book. rg- ,, 5 Gordon Bane 9 I N 4' , y , rw l T 1 M-A L l l Gerald Durre g, Y ' aiu-lf' Lawrence Layman John Powers t Piclufef C QV C N ' Noir Available. Administration Fi' in Remember Our President President Davis spent much time at his desk dealing with business matters pertaining to the schoo1's progress. 11-4441 , W i M3 HW The businesslike attitude of President sometimes was less - serious. When the opportunity was present, President Davis added hurnorously to chapel. You hear a lot about leadership these days. One of America's great- est pastimes is criticizing her leaders. If a leader fails he is usually re- placed. Midwest Christian College is blessed with a capable leader in Howard Davis. Fund raising is a prime responsibility of a Bible College President, and the material growth of the MCC campus is evidence of the fact that President Davis has done this job well. So many other responsibilities fall to his charge. Public relations, student relations, teaching and counseling round out our President's days. Though busy with the job of guiding the college, President Davis still finds time to be a father, friend and husband. He loves life and enjoys sharing his with others. The new life Christ gives those who be- lieve in Him is worth sharing, and that one thing motivates our Presi- dent. His leadership comes from above. With Christ guiding him, the college will be led to even greater things for God in the near future. Our President was one of the schoo1's first graduates in 1950. , 1 Following graduation President Davis served in Japan as a missionary Warren Woodrome serves ably as Academic Dean of Midwest Christian College. You may find him spending his time speaking to a student about curriculum, preaching in an area congregation, helping with a campus clean-up project, or in any other of numerous situations. His down-to-earth attitude coupled with an intellectual approach to the subject at hand, make him interesting and informative to listen to. In the classroom, in the pulpit, or wherever he may be, Dean Woodrome will first consider Christ in all he says and does. Dean Woodrome spends much time in the classroom teaching Greek and New Wherever you find our Dean, he is using his mind to help an individual better understand the Lord or His school. fd Professor Duffy involves himself totally in rehearsals. Michael Duffy leads the music department of Midwest Christian College. He also coordinates the sports program and is a Vital part of MCC's expand- ing outreach. Along with him, Ion Evah Murray is on the Midwest music staff. Being an accomplished pianist, her instruction is appreciated by her students. Mrs. Murray's accompaniment enhances the performances of the college choir as they tour the area.' Mrs. Murray's skillful instruction helps bring about improvements in her students performances. Professor Howard Faerber teaches New Testament, sponsors the Timothy Club, and manages the ever popular campus bookstore. Through all of these responsibilities he always has his warming smile. gui . To the right: Professor Mark Layman and his wife, Janet, are part of the entertaining for children at the Christmas party. Professor Faerber makes good use of the chalkboards in the new classrooms. Mark Layman heads the missions department for Midwest. Traveling with the 3M team, teaching, and sponsoring the Summer World Institute of Missions in Mexico are a few of the duties that keep this professor busy year around. Robert Barr came to Midwest Christian College this year to teach in the Old Testament department. Brother Barr teaches a full schedule, and also heads the impor- tant Key Man Program. Mrs. Barr is teaching in the secretarial science de- partment. Her teaching responsibilities will be in- creased next year to include more courses. Mr. and MIS. Barr came to the college from the Chicago area with a wide range of Christian service experience. They have been involved in new church work and he served as President of Dakota Bible College for a time. Gene Segroves is the Minister at the Metropolitan Christian Church located in Oklahoma City. This completed Mr. Segroves second year on the Mid- west teaching staff. His teachings included Christian Education. Brother Segroves has ample opportunity to share with students the information he has gained - - u 'ET'7'3Ihqagi,l,. in his studies and ministry. - Gordon VanZile has studied at Midwest and Lincoln Christian college. He is in his second year on the staff and instructs in the areas of homiletics and New Testament Brother VanZile lives in Hinton, Oklahoma. He mini- sters to the Christian congregation there in addition to his teaching duties at the college. 3 :eff Mark Zimmerman teaches in the Christian Education Department. The College Choir is not just a singing group, it's a unique personality. Midwest Christian College without the choir would not be the same school. The year was spent preparing for and performing on two tours. The Christmas tour led the singers to churches in Kansas and Oklahoma. ln the spring a much longer tour covering several states provided fun, excitement, and wonderful opportunities to wit- ness for Christ. The whole year was topped with the production of the college chorus' first record album, To God Be The Glory. The recording was a tremendous success due to its fine quality. Endless packing and unpacking proved to be a tiresome affair. Ill J I ...J Professor Barr and Dean Robins made one final check before leav- ing the campus to begin the tour. 4 uf I . The Prayer Tower at Oral Roberts University was just one of the many sights seen on tours. Brief stops were enjoyable, but there was always more traveling to be done. There was always time to just pause and enjoy the beauty of God's creation. The Psallousi Singers, in their second year as a singing group, toured the area and put on numerous performances for the glory of Christ. They win the admiration of everyone who hear them. The Deeper Life singers from Dewy gave an invitation to come to Christ after their performance. This book is a celebration, a reminder, and a challenge. Look at its pages and you look down a road you have traveled. Think about what you find within these pages and you might recall one of your life's little pleasures. We can look back on a great accomplishment for the lovely Lord Jesus. Midwest and her students have grown in so many ways. Everyday with Jesus is surely greater than the day before. The life He gives, the love He shares, the gifts He bestows, who can match His tremendous care? Jesus once said., All who listen to my instructions and follow them are wise, like a man who builds his house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents, and the floods rise and the storm winds beat against his house it won't collapse, for it is built on rock. CMat- thew 7:24, 251 He's rightg a life lived in close harmony with Christ will always provide things pleasant to remember! -'lb- - vS. ,,mw W The Christian is, by heavenly nature, an optimist. His look is always forward and upward. His attitude is always positive. Faith and hope make you that way. Tomorrow for each one of us will be an adventure in faith and love because of Christ! Everv step we take will lead us one step closer to our home in Heaven. Let not your heart be troubled, '5 Jesus said. You are trusting God, now trust in me. There are many homes up there where my Father lives, and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready, then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with me where I am. If this weren't so, I would tell you plainly. And you know where I am going and how to get there. Uohn 14:1-4, The Living Biblej. One tomorrow soon we will wake up to a new day and find ourselves with Christ in Heaven forever. All the study, all the prayer, all the faith, all the witnessing will pay off because friends and relatives we loved so much will be there with us! Look at yesterday as a beautiful memory, view today as a challenge, and always see Jesus in all His glory coming for us tomorrow. . .
