IZIASS HISIIIIIY In 1940 a group of eager young troupers entered the arena of Welcome H1gh School some of them having very prom1s1ng careers These young boys and gxrls have had many excxtmg moments s1nce that openmg day Th1s group started from the ground They were a lxttle shy at f1rst however they st1ll had txme for mls chxef such as f1st f1ght1ng and wrestl1ng All these l1ttle scenes led us up to th1s Stal' p8l'f0I'l'Tlal'lCC OUX' SCDXOI' year We passed through the f1rst e1ght grades qu1ckly and 1n the fall of 1948 we took a bxg step We were ID h1gh school Lrke most new troupers IH h1gh school we had trouble wxth the new system of changmg classes Our n1nth grade homeroom teacher was Mr A B Evans e had many EXC1t11'lg moments and we took our flrst stab at the student councxl Then ln the tenth grade we really went to work on the teachers smce we had so many that year Mrs Paul Mayd1an Mlss lr1s Leonard Mrs V C Lanxer and M1ss Lorame Brxtt That year the glrls served at the Jun1or Senxor Banquet The eleventh grade was a bmg Jurnp because we began to feel l1ke the bxgshots We had a lot of thmgs to c' that year We had a successful Halloween Carmval and from the proceeds we bought the school a pxano ln November we recemved our class rxngs of whxch we were very proud Then 1n the sprmg a bxg event approached It WHS the JUHIOI' and Senxor Banquet It was held at the Lexmgton Munlcxpal Club and was enjoyed by all Our hardworkmg rmgmaster was Mrs Alex Hmkle As the end of the tour approached some of our members were chosen marshals to serve at the graduat1on and class mght exerc1ses In the fall of 51 we began our star performance Our sponsor was Mrs Graham Sowers who has led us through thls year whxch w1ll end w1th our graduatmg 1nto the pos1t1on of top performers Thxs year has been eventful We elected the annual staff selected mascots measured for caps and gowns and have been very busy ln our stud1es and our act1 vxtxes These careers are now just reachmg the top of the tent and we hope to keep 1n mmd that we have many more performances to make before the b1g task mn l1fe 15 complete Class H1stor1an Donald Brewer MASS PIIIM We who are semors look back on our past To adventures xn school that have passed by so fast Grades one through twelve we all mxght say Have been our ladder all along the way lnsp1red by our teacher we started our cl1mb We worked we played we had a good t1me Sometxmes 1n learnmg we were slow But even then our hearts would show That the ambltlon we had 1n mmd When mmgled w1th hope success we d fmd Our clxmb 15 now ended our school work 15 done New ventures awa1t us for we ve just begun Class Poet Donese Tussey 1 , . . 1 1 1 ' - , . 1 1 1 , . 1 1 I - 1 1 - . . 1 . . . ,, - 11 . r . 1 . , 1 . . 1 1 . . 1 ' 1 1 , - 1 1 1 5 S 1 1 - ' ' ' 1 1 1 . . , . , . . , . , .
