G ass Heston, The Semor class of 1951 has been an unusual class throughout 1ts hxgh school years In 1947 a large Freshman Class of 36 pup1ls was enrolled by Mrs Walker Shelton home room teacher We entered as our contestant for Harvest Klng and Queen Gerlene Snyder and Norman W1lkes In the end our Klng was v1c tor1ous AtChr1stmas tlme our class was invmted to the home of Peggy Salnt slng for a party Near the close of school the class enjoyed a we1ner roast at Martha Stutt' s home Durmg our Freshman year we had 6 boys and 1 gxrl to leave Upon enter1ng our Sophomore year we had 29 students w1th Mr Graham as our teacher El1zabeth Ca1n was our contestant for Harvest Queen We en joyed a Chrlstmas party whmch was held at the home of El1zabeth Cam Dur mg the year we had 2 boys and 1 g1rl to leave us but Bob Steelman jomed our class The Jumor year w1th 26 members and Mrs J C Brown as our sponsor, was a busy one Durtng the year our class entered the Ha1lowe'enCarn1val w1th out on top On November 11 1949 our class presented When Sally Comes to Town under the d1rect1on of our sponsor Mrs Brown The class enjoyed a Christmas party held at the home of Barbara Gwaltney After whlch we went Chrlstmas carolmg The outstand1ng events of the year were the tr1p to Cha pel H111 and Duke Un1vers1ty and the banquet g1ven at the W-oman's Club 1n honor of the Senxors At last dawned our Sentor year w1th Mrs Robert Motslnger as class spon sor Two new students Barbara Grlmes and Myrtle Ann Port1s made us a total of 27 In November Charlotte Uldr1ck became the br1de of Bxlly Clod felter but she 1S contmuxng her educatlon The pubhshmg of our annual is one of the bxg events of our Semor year It IS a book which we can keep to re member our h1gh school days We are all workmg hard toward the tr1p to Washmgton which we hope w11l be enjoyed by all H1 storian Blanche Cec1l I .
