High school is o time for learning to overcome our prolems ond carry on later in life on our own. Events that were hoppening or school during December ond January included ups ond downs. In December, juniors ond seniors traveled to Troy for Career Day and some students went to the onnuol County Government Doy. A bright spot in the month wos the new vending machine with 22 selections. January brought o major snow storm throughout the country on the 4rh, Vicki Lewis changed her lost name to Winchester, ond Mr. Allen hod surgery. In the outside world people were also trying to moke o go of it. even though minimum wage stayed the some. The lost month of '81 proved eventful. The 7th morked the 40th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, the first rest tube boby wos born in Norfolk, Virginio, ond Reagan threatened the Libyans because of their assassination plots on him. In January, zany Paul Lynde died or 55, on Atlanta jury wos chosen for Wayne Williams, ond the 49'ers won the Super Bowl. During February, basketball was in full swing. Jim Hailing sprained his ankle at the Highland game. Speech was starred, and Dan Brox won the Publications' gas raffle Tragedy struck as the Milo Long home burnt early on the 15th. Other tragedies were occurring. A semi overturned on the the Denton corner, many area Sofeway stores were closed, and Wayne Williams was found guilty of ot least two of the Atlanta murders.
