BASEBALL FOR 1957 Midvale vs Tusky Midvale opened their 1957 season by playing host to Tusky. The game only went four innings and then was called off because it was too cold. No score was made in the four innings but our center fielder Charles Colletti had the only hit for the Blue Devils. Midvale vs Strasburg On, this trip Midvale came home with a victory well in her favor with a score of 12 to 3 with Lon- nie Wolfe doing the pitching and only allowed 6 hits and 3 runs. While Midvale was collecting 10 hits, Coleltti, Wolfe, Demattio, and Benedum all acquired 2 apiece. Midvale vs Gnaden April 22, 1957 The strong arm of Larry Clark of Gnaden was the big trouble in this game because he sat 13 of our men down swinging and only allowed 7 hits with Wolfe and Fulp accounting for four of the seven. So with pitching like this Midvale had to take the back seat of an 8 to 4 loss for the first time of the season. Midvale vs Port With our ace Lonnie Wolfe doing the pitching for the Blue Devils, it was an easy victorv, with the score 16 to 1 and Lonnie only allowed 3 hits. And the stick men for the day were Demattio, Krocker argl Fulp who had 2 hits out of three trips to the p te. Midvale vs Berlin This being the last game in the Sectional tomna- ment before going into the District, Midvale had to play host to Berlin at Sugarcreek. And beating this team meant a trip to Columbus for the Re- gional tourney. But as the story goes Midvale played hard right down until the last out in the 10th But we came out on the short end of the list with a 6 'oo 4 loss. Fulp was the leading hitter for the day with 3 out of 4.
