I LIKE YOUR NERVE This delightful, three-act farce was presented November 16, 1939 at the School Auditorium. The small, mid-western town by the nameof Shady Greens provided the setting for this hilarious comedy. The curtain of the first act found Whitey, manager of the hotel at Shady Greens, busy at his desk in the hotel lounge. There fol- lowed a terrible mix-up when the hotel guests heard of robberies that had occurred in near-by Dewport, where numerous millionaires found relaxation during the summer season. The police had been un- able to find the crooks, and McCafferty, a plain clothes detective, expected the biggest robbery of the season to occur at Shady Greens Hotel that night. That afternoon a young bachelor named Jim y Ander- son had a collision with another young man. Jimmy was brought into the hotel, not hurt, but a triffle ruffled. There he met his friend McCafferty, and the jolly Irishman persuaded Jimmy to disguise him- self as Count Divani, who in the end turned out to be the rlngleader of the crooks. The play had the audience in continous laughter thru characters, Oscar Oop and Lucy Betts, who played comedy leads. The climax took place when Oscar Oop and his fiancee Lucy solved the mystery by discovering the scarab. Jimmy and attractive Mary Newton fell in love as was expected. The final curtain closed on a very happy and excited group who portrayed UI Like Your Nerve.n PROFESSOR, HOW COULD YOU! nProfessor, How Could You,W a farce in three acts, was presented April 17, 1940, at the High School Auditorium. The story takes place in a small college town. The dean of the college is resigning and his deanship is offered to Keats Perry, a young professor of history at the college. However, Keats is noteli- gible for the position until he is married which must be done within three days. Grandpa Perry, Bogglns, the butler, Vicky Randolph and John Appleby plan a little scheme to get Keats a wife. They eachplace a bet on a girl whom they think will be suitable for Keats. The girls in the race for the wife are Valerie Whitman, a Southern char- mer: Priscilla Morley, a sweet young girly and last but not least, Tootsie Bean, a plump spinster who tries vigorously to get Keats by her Nlemon chiffon pien. A dinner party is held to get the girls ac- quainted and from there on everything is a continual mixup untilJohn Appleby, Keats' helpful friend, impersonates a girl,supposed1yKeats' wife.He brings three children on thescene only to complicate matters more. The climax comes when Keats declares Vicky Randolph as his true love. Grandpa is delighted because he has secretly placed abet upon Vicky. Grandpa wins the money and Keats gets the deanship. 40
