'fig Dedication The T957-58 basketball season was a great one at Midlothian High. We shall long remember the talented Panthers of 1958. The team had c reat deal of material, and they were surely not lacking for a wonderful coach as they were led from one victory to another victory by Coach I'-lien. Everything seemed in our favor this year, and itwent that way too. We played twenty- five gamesand lost five. We swept through our district twice without meeting defeat and ended our regular season as DistrictChampions, with four boys on the All-District Team. lt was now time to meet Cooper in the bi-district tilt. When the two teams met in the Samuels' Gymnasium in Dallas, it was a thrilling game from start to finish, and the Panthers came out as Bi-District Champions. Now, there was one game between us andthe state play-offs. This was played in the North Texas Gymnasium in Denton. We drew James Bowie as an opponent in this regional meet. Anything could happen in this play-off. lt was an hour of tenseness from start to finish. The only trouble was that we were cold and James Bowie was hot , the game ended with a score of 55 for James Bowie and 44 for Midlothian. Even though we failed to go to state play-offs, we are proud of the outstanding record of the 1958 Panthers - the only team of Midlothian High ever to win Bi-District in any sport. The staff of the Panther Scream congratulates this basketball team on a fine season md dedicates this issue of the Panther Scream to them. ,r mv. ex f -1 . -as ,... , , , .,,, ' Y ' J! mx? , I ng M 1 J ' Y- f kk lg' S as Sf as ' x - ,f ' . This I do because I love them all equally even as I love all mankind regardless of station or creed, race or religion. Since the theme of your yearbook this year is FOOT PRINTS, I would remind you that foot prints are important in any one's liFe. In your case, these Foot prints have led you over twelve years of school life that have been pleasant ways. Naturally, as you Finish high school, you are looking out into the Future, and I hope you will face it NOT with timidity nor with Fear, but that you will Face it boldly, courageously and joyously. Let me suggest that as the years roll along, you stop occasionally, wherever you are and whatever you are doing, and sing the first verse, at least, of SMILE, SMILE, SMILE. Best wishes to each of you, always, L.A. Mills Superintendent .mculfy M. W-S. A. HISTORIAN 8: PUBLICITY MRS, W. E, HARRIS 1 I K In the complex world of the space age it may not seem too vital that the happy times of your school years have passed. However, in days to come it will be with satisfaction that you turn these pages reflectlng activities and friends of your proving ground- the campus. Today, seniors everywhere are entering into an era where op- portunltles are as boundless as the outer reaches of space which man ls constantly attempting to conquer. May it be that each of you as the years go by fits his career into the shining orbit of success.
