The rain had became a driving sheet, Which formed a mirror of ice over the city. The tiny particles beat endlessl against the window pane They rattled and shook I had tried to sle p but in vain Disgustedly I threw back the covers and shivering, I ran to the lounge before the open grate A few coals were burning slowly I punched them with a poker and laid on a chunk of coal I lay on the lounge gazing dreamily at the flame Suddenly through the fire came a picture before my eyes It was a long and stately beautiful building surrounded by smaller buildings As the scene became more visible we noticed a huge stone building, as we followed in ide we decided it must be a basketball game Just then five boys and their coach appeared it was lt was one of our own basketball boys from Midland High who was at the time coaching at Indiana University, Bill Hunter The picture faded slowly Then the flames leaped high, and through a firy screen another scene appeared It was in New Vork T s time it was a large and well known store, Pearl's Department Store I recognized a rich business man waiting on a very fashionable couple with a small son I almost instantly knew them to be Bill Usrev, and his wife and son Dill Jr His w fe was the former Bettie Stanley The man waiting on them was the well known Dick Pearl who attended school so faithfully at Midland My interest was next centered on one of the most fashlonablv dressed ladies present, I opened my eyes wide in surprise, for the lady was a dress for Rose Ella Inman Just then very business like air It was Frankie LeVeque He seemed very interested in the dresses or should I say the owner blonde The picture was slowly covered up by the flames, but almost instantly another scene appeared This time it was in a law office intelligent looking glrl sat behind a massive desk, I startled in surprise for it was none other than Delema Coates Who ever thought she would be a lawyer? At that moment a fair client entered, she asked her to take ch rge of her large estate in Hollywood, California She talked several minutes before I recognized her to be Cora Belle McKee From her talk I gathered her name was now Keller took the poker and punched the coals again As I lay back on the lounge anotner picture made its appearance A large service train clme into vision, one tall dark and handsome man came down the platform, I knew it was Bill Johnson The scene changed again to a girl who was walking down 5th Avenue She looked very tired since she had worked all afternoon in her modern Beauty Salon fixing Shirley Templevs hair As she was gliding along we recognized her as Mary Hubbell She passed a shop where on the window was painted bold letters 'Bob The Snip,er Barbar ' Mary looked in the window and waved Bob paused his work and vaved back and his smile was more than ju t a friendly smile She then stopped and turned back and went 1nto his shop 'Oh Bob,' she exclaimed, 'I just heard you were a barber ' He nodded ani sne added shvlv, 'I'm glad ' The man turned to her and to our great surpri e it was Bob Neal He said, 'Are you really glad, Mary' 'I KHEW it was Mary Hubbell her eyes looked away 'Mary,' his voice was hu ky 'I I've couldn't we uh and the scene faded A new scene appeared and I heard an orchestra playing soft mu 1C 1D the distance A spotlight was turned upon the stage and a beautiful girl danced gracefully into the spotlight After the dance the applause was immense F01 .-. none other than Gayle Pope, designing an attendent entered the room with a of the dress which ha pened to be last night at the theater for tomorrow her name would be Mrs V H talcup But Hark! A new scene appeared I saw a quiet little country nome man approcned dressed in rough farmer's clothes His face Nas vaguely familiar Yes, of course it was Bob Wollam He lifted his chest to bF8dtH in the quiet country air because he loved the serenity of the country siie Just at that moment an automobile stopped before the gate and out tepged a man and woman They addressed themselves as Mr and Mrs Dallas saladine she was formerly Miss Virginia Cox They were residing in Chicago, and were vlslting some of the old classmates The following scene showed a large church wlth Clovis Trusty preaching He llfted his powerful arms in noble gesture and his voice 4u1vered with emotion I glanced around the room and saw Virginia Ycryar nodding in ap proval of the Rev Trustv' sermon but then the scene faded l!.5!.1E'...QIL!! .LI i X: '?3N dtex!
