The chess club went on the road this year and partic- ipated in two meets. They were both played against Bellevue Marquette, once at each school. Unfortu- nately, the Eagle team was unsuccessful in its bid for a victory. The club did have an intrasquad tournament, however, and Ken Metz was the champ. Kevin Metz came in second, and Cindy Marcucci placed third. TOP: Bruce Bearinger, Colin Dirks, Doug Eichhorn, Ken Metz, Kevin Metz, Joel Byers BOTTOM: Becky Harris, Diane DeLarm, Cindy Marcucci, Su- sanne Ahrendsen, Mr. Heiar. Mr. Meyer coached his team to a new distinction. They earned Division I ratings at state. Diane DeLarm earned two Division I ra- tingsf Bruce Bearinger got one. Other ratings were: John Hamann, II, Curtis Reid, II, Mickie Switzer, II, Marvin Tjaden, III, Bruce Bearinger, II.
