The council, un- der advisors Mr. Smith and Mr. Lust, planned homecoming festivities. They also of- fered Sl00 to each class to spend on interim for fees and other expenses incurred. At the end of the year, Presi- dent Sandy Ireland presented a bouquet of flowers to Mr. Lust in appreciation for his work with them over the year.

The staff pictured was primarily responsible for selling ads to fi- nance the book. Few of the staff were actually involved in putting the book together. Much of the credit goes to edi- tor in chief Marvin Tja- den, The staff who did work found there is con- siderable time spent in assembling an annual. Their continued enthusi- asm will help provide the expertise necessary for an even finer 1979 yearbook.

The chess club went on the road this year and partic- ipated in two meets. They were both played against Bellevue Marquette, once at each school. Unfortu- nately, the Eagle team was unsuccessful in its bid for a victory. The club did have an intrasquad tournament, however, and Ken Metz was the champ. Kevin Metz came in second, and Cindy Marcucci placed third. TOP: Bruce Bearinger, Colin Dirks, Doug Eichhorn, Ken Metz, Kevin Metz, Joel Byers BOTTOM: Becky Harris, Diane DeLarm, Cindy Marcucci, Su- sanne Ahrendsen, Mr. Heiar. Mr. Meyer coached his team to a new distinction. They earned Division I ratings at state. Diane DeLarm earned two Division I ra- tingsf Bruce Bearinger got one.
