,, .yi R, 'ff - State Recognition for Wrestlers hat better way to end the season than to bring home a team trophy from the state wrestling tournament? It might be the addition of three state champs. Mid- land did just that! idland left Des Moines in posses- sion of the second place trophy for wrestling in Class A schools. Three wrestlers were all that were necessary to amass a sufficient number of points. Scott Taylor re- peated as a state champ this year but he wrestled seven pounds heavier at 112. Dan Snyder, dubbed nThe Snaken by the Lisbon coach, wrestled to the 155 pound championship. And to round out the trio, Matt Schaeffer muscled his way to the 167 pounds. ot to be outdone his wrestlers, Byers was also acclamations as championship at by Coach John given high coach of the year for Class A wrestling. He re- ceived a trophy, belt buc- kle, and ring for his title. Coach Millikin was named assistant coach of the year. he rest of the grapplers sparkled in helping the team a- chieve an eight win - two loss season. Those losses went to state champions Lisbon, and to a Class AA school, Solon.
