PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE The last ten years have been full and eventful in the history of humankind. Indeed, one can wonder if any decade of recorded history has ever been packed with more tense drama and extreme danger. Or whether any ten years have had more of contrast in the summation of villainy and idealism, courage and co- wardice, selfishness and self-sacrifice. Surely no other period of recorded history has produced such tremendous changes in the plans and aspirations of men. Looking back over the latter portion of these years and thinking upon the great number of students who have graduated from this school, we often wonder what influence this institution exerted on their lives. Are they better men and women for having studied here? Did they in the main leave Midland City High School better equipped to live wholesome, active and constructive lives? The converse of that question also comes to mind. What have been the impacts of the many students upon the school? The many changes that have taken place are apparent to all. The faculty and students have grown together into a broader concept of education and into a better pattern of understanding and purpose. We have grown in responsibilities and services, we have broadened our horizons and our viewpoints on many aspects of education. Every person represented in this publication has contributed much to these new and hope- ful developments. To those of our student body and faculty, who made this Annual possible, we owe an eternal debt of gratitude. As you, the Senior Class, become Alumni, we know you will assume your responsibilities as such and continue your keen interest in all that transpires at Midland City High School.

In gratitude, we, the Class of 1953, take pleasure in dedicating the 1953 TREASURE CHEST to you, our parents. You, with great love, tenderness and unselfishness have guided us. You have made, shaped and molded us to be what we are and are to be. Though words can- not express the feeling in our hearts, we want to say we love you and express it in a small way by this dedication. DEDICATION
