Ridley 47 IN LOVING MEMORY OF AVERY SPECIAL SOPHOMORE WE’LL MISS YOU SCOTT SCOTT There is no joy at Midlakes, We have lost it in the dark. Not a smile lights a face, For Death’s arrow’s found its mark. And now there is but silence In respect for our friend who has passed. We all live our lives in defiance Our love for him will last. Only yesterday we had a dream. We saw a better tomorrow. But it was not what it seemed And now we share this sorrow. There is a price for being born, And now we know the cost. For all that we can do is mourn For those whom we have lost. No, there is no joy at Midlakes, Will we ever see the dawn? For the Lord both gives and takes away, We must pray for those who’ve gone. Matt Baker Scott was Vice President of the Midlakes FFA. He was a very active member. The FFA will truly miss him. ■f V© JUNIORS Back Row: J. Basset. D. Adsltt, S. Beard, T. Avedisian, R. Bass. Ill To Miss Marilynn Frost, With appreciation for your 29 years of dedicated teaching, 1958-1987. After leaving Albany State Teachers College with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree, and after a brief two year stay at Oxford Central School in Chenango County, Miss Frost came, in 1958, to Clifton Spr- ings High School as a teacher of English. She immediately became involved at the school as the advisor for the class of 1962. She was involved as the drama coach, faculty director for the Junior and later the senior plays at Clifton Springs High School in the ear- ly sixties and the first few musicals at Midlakes. She has further served as the Na- tional Honor Society advisor and as the chairperson of the English Depart- ment. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers in English. During these years she has helped to write and develop questions for the Regents exams in English. She has written and developed various courses of study and curricula for the Midlakes High School. Last year Miss Frost was awarded the Teacher of the Year Award by the students of Midlakes High School. We heartily thank you, Miss Frost, for your endless support, assistance, dedication (she rarely leaves the building before 4:35) and enthusiasm throughout your years as a teacher. Passing the visions, passing the night, Passing, unloosing the hold of my comrades’ hands. Passing the song of the hermit bird and the tallying song of my soul, Victorious song, death’s outlet song, yet varying ever-altering song, As low and wailing, yet clear the notes, rising and falling, flooding the night, Sadly sinking and fainting, as warning and warning and yet again bursting with joy, Covering the Earth and filling the spread of the heaven. As that powerful psalm in the night I heard from recesses. Passing, I leave thee lilac with heart shaped leaves, I leave thee there in the dooryard, blooming, returning with Spring.
