He was truly an inspiration to everyone he came in contact with. We in the athletic department will always be grateful for having known him. Mary lo Cagle plays the part of a mother who loses her Christmas spirit for a short time. 34 Emotions Are High as Contestants Compete for Title 37 M.H.S. Beauties Model Evening Wear 39 The 1977 Queen of Hearts was held ai ihe M.H.S. gym at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. February 14, 1977. More than 60 girls competed for the title of Miss Queen of Hearn. Contestants were chosen in advance by their homerooms and clubs. They were judged on personality, poise, and beauty. A new feature in this year's Queen of Hearts was having the contestants model sportswear as well as evening wear. The contest. sponsored by the band and supervised by Band Director Randall Harwell, was an impressive success. The entertainment was provided by the M.H.S. Stage Band. Stunt Night, when it finally arrived, was a great success. The sponsors felt that all participants enjoyed presenting their stunts. The JUNIORS won first place with their presentation of Silver Freak. The SENIORS came in second with The Pittsburgh Stealers. The MC was Midfield's own Scott Hallford. The judges were Cherri Cook, student of Sandford University; Mr. Pat Sala-mone. Principal of Hueytown High; and Sharon Coshatt. teacher of Pleasant Grove. Awards of various kinds were presented. In basketball the Most Valuable Player Award went to Melvin Files: Most Valuable Offensive Player. Amaro Williams: Most Valuable Defensive Player. Mancc Terry: and the Free Throw Award. Tony Cox. In baseball the Most Valuable Player Award went to Joey Lloyd and the Big Play Award went to Gary Edwards. 70 On Saturday. November 20, the Midfield Fighting Patriots enjoyed a well-deserved banquet. The guest speaker for the evening was Coach Syphrus, head coach at Ensley. His speech was both interesting and enjoyable. For the first time young men and women participated in various sports together. Basketball, weight lifting, gymnastics, and health are just a few of the activities on the curriculum for the year. Coach Herbert Alexander and Mrs. Juanita Garfield have done a successful job in organizing the classes and keeping things running smoothly. She is married and has three children. This is her third year at M.H.S. Mrs. Allison Bradley attended the University of Alabama and Montevallo University. This is her fifth year at M.H.S. Noted for her outstanding scholarship and personality. She participates in several clubs and is a great favorite among her classmates and teachers. She is also very talented. With all these qualities, it is no wonder she was voted MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED. ' 2. GLORIA ETHRIDGE has been chosen for the Senior Hall of Fame because of her scholastic ability and school spirit. CRAIG ATKINS is known for his remarkable scholastic ability and his leadership.
