The last regular scheduled game was a night game with Vinal Tech which the Tigers won 3-0 to earn the City Championship. The Tiger’s conference record was 5-0-2 as Middletown kept its record of never losing in a confer- ence soccer game. The Tigers were ranked fifteenth in the State Class “M” Tournament and made a fine showing. The Tigers were finally eliminated by Killingly 2-1 as the winning goal came with only 1:14 left to play. The Tigers were led all year by Tri- Captains Sergio Guricullo, Ken King, and Sal Savastra. These three were elected to the M.S.A.C. All- Conference team. Gurciullo led the team with 14 goals while King led the team in assists with 10. Savastra was named the winner of the “Most Con- sistant Player Award” for his excel- lent play on defense all year. 24
