What was it that made the group an individual? How will the Class of '78 be remembered some ten or twenty or more years from now? The Class of 1978, the class that saw the termination of years of double sessions, also came to be split by the construction of a sister school in Lincroft. As a group, the members perhaps began to realize the importance and value of education - the necessity of returning to the basics. The, members of our class did well for themselves, their school and their community. During the fall season, it was seniors who made up the bulk of the championship football and soccer teams. We put on the most successful Homecoming Dance the school has ever seen. Having seen what division amongst class mem- bers may do, we banded together to produce the most financially successful Student-Faculty Frolics the school has ever seen. As we look both the immediate and long range future, we see a very happy and successful Senior Ball and a pleasant and rewarding graduation. As we look back, years from now, few will object to the idea that it was great for the Class of '78! kv wx, y Y ,,,t Advisor Tom Flieger, Rayanne Endter, Terri Rademacher, Vice-President Tom Connoly Eileen Acerra Gail Alsback Timothy Anderson Laura Bader if wnjf ,Vw 2 Michael Ackerly Cynthia Allen f Donald Amato Kathleen Amitrani ig, , Richard Anzivino Scott Arminas Melody Bailey Kathleen Baker Geoffrey Alperin Anthony Anania Michael Auleta i William Balbach www loel Barna Linda Barry Michael Bazanos Margaret Beagen june Beceiro layne Bellezza Doris Bello Robert Bennett ,,f, V ' 2 ,ff Tv .Q ,L Tracey Bennett Donna Berentes Charles Betz Robert Bibaud Sheila Biron David Bisgrove :,i,v,,,, Debra Bonavita Keith Borsellino Alan Bickauskas Za 2 Frank Bilotta Helene Blihar Keith Bowne Dean Bierman Nancy Birnbaum Debi Lee Boe hner Suzanne Boyd Deborah Boyer Rory Brabham Michael Bradley Michael Brandow Cheryl Brannon Timothy Brookes David Brown Jeannie Brown Vera Brunt Thomas Burns Lynn Butler Scott Buttgn Gregory Brady Carol Brown Catherine A. Co- Captain Scott Arminas did a fine job on the side horse man, while Tony Anania excelled on the parallel bars. The bulk of the team is composed of many talented under- classmen, who will most definetly lead the Lions gymnas- tics team to victory in the next few years. STAGE BA D This year the Middletown High School North Stage Band, under the direction of Art Martin, completed a very successful year. They were the hosts of the 1978 Stage Band Festival held at Middletown North. They competed at the Glassboro State Band Festival held at Glassboro State College and the Mon- mouth Stage Band Festival held at Monmouth College, where they placed first out of eleven of the most highly noted high school bands in the state. They also performed at the Middletown Stage Band jazz spectacular, that was held in june. This festival, as in previous years signified the last performance of the band and a laurel wreath of precious memories to the graduating seniors of this jazz Band. Among the musicians there were eight seniors, all of whom were the former members of the Thorne junior High Stage Band conducted by Bernie Ward , an excellent instructor of jazz. With his guidance he helped bring these people to the high school with a confident and well rounded background in jazz. From there these senior players were elevated to the level of performing music under the careful tutelage of another excellent performer and teacher, Art Martin. It has been a long and winding road with many disappointments and happy times. It is with great sorrow that we part, and great joy to know that we might meet again to play the jazz we love. i Thanks goes to the music educators, performers, competitors, and audiences of jazz who supported us for so many years FRONT: Charlie Plungis, Dave Guest, Scott Arminas. The Lions finished the season with a record of 11-12 and ranked fourth in the Shore Conference A divi- sion. Special thanks to Sharon Steck for all her work on layouts, as well as her endless encouragement, ideas and friendship. To our Advisor, Scott MacNeil, for all his advice, support and help, scheduling photography sessions, designing layouts and proof-reading.
