J . ii - in-I THE PITCH. Trisha Evans pitching a game. The Girls Varsity Softball Team, after defeat- ing Kearny H.S., became the State Group lV Champions. They were the first Shore team to win a state team championship ever. The team defeated Piscataway H.S. 8-4 to win the Central District Group IV championship. They were rated number one in the Shore Conference by the Asbury Park Press. The team finished the season with a 18-3 record The team was led by its outstanding seniorsp Linda Trezza, Laura Freshnock, Mikki Monaghan, jackie Stromberg, Kim Richardson, Karla Fitzgerald, and Sharon Augusto. Trish Evans was the outstanding pitcher for the team with a 14-'I record. Mikki Monaghan and Laura Freshnock were both elected to the All-Shore First Team by the Asbury Park Press. The Newark Star Ledger selected Mikki Monaghan as the All-State Catcher for 1976.

GIRLS TRACK HAS SUCCESSFUL SEASON ln its third season the Girls Track Team finished the year with a successful 7-3. The girls team had many returning letter winners who contributed to the etcs ' ir iii iiii if C, as K NN mx ,kr , M S' , fm,,,...M ' .few ' K team's success. The team leaders were Beth Kelly, who ran the hur- dles, the 440 relay and who was in the long jump and javelin throw, Mary Schweikert in the 4405 and Donna Smack, who won many first places in the shot put, 100 yard dash, the 440 relay and the 220.
