The team ended their season with 16 wins and 7 loses. There were no returning letterwinners but the team had several outstanding players. Amoung the outstanding players were 'Al Lynch, jeff Orcutt, Steve Wilkinson, Bill johnson, and Billy Taylor. In the area of outstanding games, three of Middletown's greatest victories were over Toms River North, Toms River South and then over Neptune in the Shore Conference game. I. V.: SITTING: M. J . ii - in-I THE PITCH. Trisha Evans pitching a game. The Girls Varsity Softball Team, after defeat- ing Kearny H.S., became the State Group lV Champions. They were the first Shore team to win a state team championship ever. The team defeated Piscataway H.S. 8-4 to win the Central District Group IV championship. They were rated number one in the Shore Conference by the Asbury Park Press. The team finished the season with a 18-3 record The team was led by its outstanding seniorsp Linda Trezza, Laura Freshnock, Mikki Monaghan, jackie Stromberg, Kim Richardson, Karla Fitzgerald, and Sharon Augusto. Trish Evans was the outstanding pitcher for the team with a 14-'I record. Mikki Monaghan and Laura Freshnock were both elected to the All-Shore First Team by the Asbury Park Press. The Newark Star Ledger selected Mikki Monaghan as the All-State Catcher for 1976.
