Wallkill Academy 1842-1895 ' Past-Present-Future The Wallkill Academy, was built by a private corporation of Middletown residents, and opened in 1842. It was located at the present site of The Academy Avenue Elementary School. In 1860, over 300 students were enrolled, a large number for the size of the town.
