Swimming The Swim Team began with 4 wins in a row and then lost 2 in six lane pools due to lack of depth. The Team lost Walter Lynch, midway through the season, and ended up with a 5-6 record for the year. The win-loss record does not show the fact that Dave Ellison, Frank Heter, Doug Porto, Marshall Cline, and Walter Lynch kept the rec- ords falling in almost every meet. School and pool records were broken and rebroken 35 times throughout the Middie swim season. Next year will be a rebuilding year for the Middie mermen with only five returning lettermen, and the adjustment to their new 25 yard pool. Coach Ed Morgan is also expecting to start a Girl's Varsity Team with a separate season, and four returning girl letterwomen from the boy's team. Spring Track This year, Coach Cline wants nothing less than the league championship for the Middletown High School Track Team. Last year our team went almost undea- feated, losing only to Monroe-Woodbury in the last meet, 72-69. This year Mr. Cline is out for revenge. Using the Indoor Team as his base, he intends to add a number of top performers from last year's squad, plus a large reserve of first time runners. Among the stars from last year that we expect to see this spring are Dave Ellison, Mark Liss, Phil Hapke, joe Wagner, and Keith Depew, but there could be alot of surprises in store for us this spring among the freshmen and sophomores. At any rate, the spring of 1976 promises to produce one of the strongest track teams Middle- town has ever fielded. .5 . J N?
