Sk... Bo s' Tennis 'fi This year's Boys' Tennis Team looks very promising. Under the experienced eyes of team coach Pete Annis, the Middies are hoping to avenge some unexpected defeats suffered during last year's play. They totaled only two league defeats along with numerous wins, in and outside of regular play. The team will again be led by the devastating play of return- ing senior 1. Marenstein, with back-up coming from B. Fritz, H. Encarnacion, and P. Eisen- berg. Young hopefuls are M. Fellenzer, I. Rup- pert, M. Camillo, M. Laskowitz, C. Cawein, and last but not least, the incomperable S.H. Shapiro. Varsity In only their second year of com- petition, the Girls' Varsity Basket- ball team made a strong but un- successful attempt to gain the O.C.L. crown. Dedicated Coach Kathy Sannwald deserves much credit for the success of the team which produced a 9-5 record and a tie for third place. Outstanding offensive player Lois Ann Hayes led the Western division of the O.C.L. in scoring throughout the season and finished with a 16,3 average. Joyce DeGroat and Sara Dodd were also among the top 20 scorers in the division, while Mary Donnelly and Sue Provost turned in strong defensive efforts. Ellen Greiwe, Becky King, Donna Bub, and Adele Giruadin added depth and additional strength totheteam. Experience should be the key to the success of the next year's squad as co-captain Ellen Greiwe and Sue Provost will be the only players lost to graduation.

Volleyball With five players returning from last year's second place Varsity squad, the Volleyball Team is looking forward to proving that it can bring home the OCL title. More than seventy girls tried out for positions, but only eighteen were chosen to make up the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams. Lisette Maas, a foreign exchange student from Hol- land, is expected to be a boost to the team as she has participated in tournaments throughout Europe. Good per- formances are also expected from veterans Lois Ann Hayes, Teri Threm, Sue Provost, Becky King, and last year's M.I.P., Beth Ann Nelson. The girls, guided by Coach Chris Zigrossi, will open their season with a head-on con- frontation against last season's division winner, Monticello. Donna Bub, Dottie Distel, Sara Dodd, Mary Don- nelley, Lois Ann Hayes, Becky King, Leslie Liss, Lisette Maas, Ayne McGinley, Beth Ann Nel- son, Sue Provost, Barbara Ringwood, Carolyn Shapiro, Glo Small, Teri Threm, Denise Thompson, and Valerie Williamson. Gym Assistants These three outstanding atheletes have been utilizing their talents by helping in the girls' gym classes. They assist in setting up equip- ment, leading exercises, and demonstrating physical endeavors. They are, from left to right, Lois Ann Hayes, Beth Ann Nelson, and L Dottie Distel. 119
