The team, coached by Bill Stickney, played well all season long with a good team effort. Coach Stickney has high hopes for next season. Boys' Basketball The Middies Boy's Varsity Basketball Team earned themselves a final OCL record of 7-7, and a 10-8 over- all season record. It was a season of ups and downs for the Middies as they defeated Port Jervis and Cornwall twice but lost to Valley Central and Monroe-Woodbury twice. They defeated a tough Montie team at Monticello, as Traig McElhaney won the game in overtime with a soft jumper. The Middies got great help during the season from the bench as Doug Catizone, Jim Meikle, Mark johnson, Joe Wagner, and Keith Depew all helped to defeat Cornwall at home by a score of 83-64. Andy Matthews, Mark Brown, Aaron VanDyke and Rod Whitby had many clutch shots and rebounds that helped the Middies on to victory. The Middies also beat Washingtonville 81-78, bombed Port by 38 points and destroyed Minisink Valley 86-46. Middletown, headed by Coach Cox, finished high in the OCL standings and has a very good chance of making the sectionals at Union College on March 6th, Qi I 2 ff? 1' 3 - -. . .k .
