about Middletown High? Good things are happening! This year we decided to choose Have You Heard... as our theme because we felt there were a lot of things that go on at MHS that people don’t know about. This usually happens because so many good things happen here every day that we get so that we don't even notice them anymore. Also, some of the people who do these things for MHS often work behind the scenes and thus seldom get any recognition for their hard work. Therefore, we felt it was an appropriate theme because we wanted to tell you about some of the things you may have missed. We hope you enjoy this 1988 edition of the Cavalier, because as you know, this is who we were and what we did in ’88. 2

about MHS Determination? It’s all for the reputation of MHS! Some students at MHS came back to school as much as two weeks early just to practice. Practice what, you ask? You mean you haven’t heard that there was music to be learned, routines to be made up, blocking to be mastered and cheers to be memorized? The practices were hard and they were usually double sessions, one before lunch and one after. These sessions proved that students and coaches were determined to do their best for the reputation of MHS. Besides being hard and long, the practices were fun because you got to see the friends you hadn’t seen all summer. Determination wasn’t just seen at summer camp, though, it was also seen when all the students and staff returned to school in September. We started the '87-88 school year off well, despite having to hold some classes in the library and the cafeteria. All in all, everyone was set on not allowing these things to interfere with the thrill of starting a new year, and they set to work to do the best they could.
