They Have Fun, Too! The teachers help to keep our spirits high. The teachers at MHS are not all work and no play, however. Even though the work can be hard and frustrating for teachers as well as for students, it is easy to tell that most of the teachers here really enjoy being at Middletown High School. Teachers are friendly toward the students (as long as the students are doing what they should) and many teachers can be counted on to tell a joke or two to break the tension of the classwork. Many students have a special teacher or two that they can always count on for a little help or good advice when they’re feeling down or having trouble, and who they know will be glad to share the happiness when things finally go right. Guidance and Special Staff They schedule us, get us into college, and much more! When we have a problem, the Guidance Office is often one of the first places we go. Seniors especially spend a lot of time working with the guidance counselors. Mrs. Fletcher and Mr. Peacock work very hard to get our seniors into college, and sometimes they seem to work even harder than the seniors themselves. Often seniors can be seen trying to sneak past the Guidance Office door because they have a scholarship application which is late and they know that they’ll get hassled about it if they get caught. Still, it’s hard to get really mad at someone who’s trying to help you get money for college.
