The Little People Are they really that different? Did you ever wake up and say to yourself, “Why me?” Well, consider “the little people.” Surely you can remember being one of the little people, wandering around, worrying about how you look, and what other people are saying or thinking about you. This year it’s the same old story. The Class of ’91 entered the high school with high spirits, but they still looked bewildered and astonished at how this school works. They had gotten used to the same old Redding routines, but here at the high school it just wasn’t the same. Picking on the freshmen has been traditional, and for upperclassmen it somehow just seems natural. Maybe the older students do judge them just a little too hard, (all in fun, of course) but nevertheless, “little people” have feelings and emotions, and maybe the upperclassmen are being unfair. As a class, they take it well, and all in all, with all they put up with, the Class of ’91 is A- OKAY! Changes Finding ways to fit in can be tough. The first thing that you notice when you arrive at the high school is that people whom you may never have thought of as being friends can turn out to be friends after all. This can be either good or bad. After all, it’s the actions and attitudes of the people that make the difference in a place, not the building. Sometimes you like these changes, and sometimes you don’t. This is why you keep making changes with your appearance and attitude as you try to find the personality, “look” and group of friends which are best suited to the real you. Things change constantly in one’s life, and high school is one place where you begin to learn how to deal with these changes which may affect your life later. Some changes you may go through may be trying new styles of clothes to impress a certain group of people, or maybe even just one certain person. Then maybe you’ll do something different with your hair, and then before you even realize it you’ll appear to be a completely different person. Your personality and attitude may even be different, and maybe you’ll get it right the first time and maybe not. If you didn’t get it right the first time, you’ll probably keep trying again and again until you do. Such changes make things interesting, and help you to figure out just who you are. 52 Middletown High School Cavalier
