Page 44 text:

Reflections Take the time to look back. Looking around, you may realize that one day you’re surrounded by your friends, then one day they’re gone. You may then “reflect” back on all the great times spent in your school years, the friends you made, the fun you had at parties, and the relaxation of just sitting around talking about the latest news. For the Juniors, “forgetting” seems to be one of the greatest fears associated with becoming a Senior. Some may look at it as “only one more year,” which it is, but they never stop to think that it’s not just school they’re saying good-bye to, it’s friends, good times, and often families. For Juniors, there’s only one more year to say good- bye to friends they may have had for twelve years. College begins for many, and there’s no time left for Middletown friends, parties, and family. So why say good-bye, then? Just because you’re a Junior and only one year from graduation, it doesn’t mean that memories of the past years will be erased. Instead of saying good- bye, think of the word reflection.” “Reflect,” and the fear will be gone. So being a Junior and being only one year away from graduation can have its ups and downs, but in the end the word “reflection” can help everything to slide into place. 40 Middletown High School Cavalier

If At First You Don’t Succeed... Try, try again! Since the beginning of the 1986- 87 school year the Class of 1990 has been working on finding ways to enjoy their remaining years in high school. With only two years left, the Class of ’90 is ready to go. Working on fund raisers and class floats are two of the best ways they have found to have fun as a class, and even though they have not placed first in any of their attempts so far, that will not stop the sophomores from trying again. Taking the time and effort to put everything they have into making something of the Class of 1990 seems to be the class policy. With the two years they still have left at MHS, they will undoubtedly overcome the hard times which they may have ahead as a class, and they will manage to cope with the inevitable changes in the school rules and curriculum and in the requirements for graduation. If their first attempts do not succeed, they will try again and again. When the time finally comes for them to finish their Senior year, they surely will have reached their goals and conquered all obstacles. In their first two years at MHS the Class of 1990 has faced the typical problems of entering high school, and in their next two years they will move beyond those problems and show what a great class they can be.
