Something new was planned for the seniors’ last trip as an entire class. It was a trip to Quebec City, in the province of Quebec, Canada. A real adventure was in store for the four days of the trip. This trip was the first time that the class of 1988 had gone somewhere other than on the small, one-day field trips to amusement parks, museums and such. It was also the first time that a ski trip, especially one out of the country, had been planned as the senior trip. As the school year began, some members of the class were not sure how something so different would work out, but most were looking forward to the fun and to the many new sights and experiences. The unique thing about this trip, however, was that everyone knew that it would be the last trip that the class would ever take as a class. It was another of those ‘‘last times” for the members of the class of ’88 to make memories, to share each other’s company and to enjoy themselves for four days and three nights while there was still time to be together. “A Night to Remember” Seniors promise to “Never Say Good- Bye. ” Although all proms are different in some ways, in many ways they are all the same. After the seemingly endless parental picture-taking, the couple officially starts the evening off with dinner at an elegant restaurant. For some couples it’s just the two of them, but others seem to need to get a few couples together for dinner, either to share the fun or to give each other the courage to survive the meal. Some couples would secretly prefer just to eat at McDonald’s or Pappy’s, either because they are just shy or because they don’t feel like going through the hassle, but most seniors feel that the big, elegant (not to mention expensive!) dinner is an important part of the evening. During the meal, the guys pray that they can pay the bill, and the girls pray that they don’t spill something on their new prom gowns. Then the couple heads to the fire hall for the long, memorable, romantic evening. They dance and talk all night There are pictures to be taken, and lots of laughing and socializing to be done while everyone checks out how the other couples are dressed. The night might even feel like there is a little magic in it. Then after the dance, most couples go to the beach or off somewhere else with their friends. All too soon, the magic will be gone, and another prom will be history.
