Mathematical Competition If 3x+ 2y— 16; and x—2, what does y equal? The Mathletes is a group of talented people who have the ability to excel in one area which comes very hard for many of the rest of us, math. Mrs. Malatesta is the advisor for the mathletes and is also the head of the math department at MHS. The Mathletes do many extra things together besides the normal competing. The group had a Christmas Party this year because they are more than just classmates, they are friends. 128 Middletown High School Cavalier Science Competition Science Olympians gain more science knowledge. The science olympians compete against students from other schools and sometimes each other at Del State in different areas of science. Sometimes the events take preparation which requires the students to stay after school to receive help from the Advisor Mrs. Melvin and assistant Ms. Myer. There are many different types of events in which one may participate. In some events there is only one person, but most of the events are combined group effort. Mrs. Kabis and the Students Against Drunk Driving wanted to let people know the result of mixing the deadly combination of drinking and driving. They did many things to inform us such as participating in the Halloween Parade. For their float they took a wrecked car and put a mannequin smashed out of the windshield to show the final consequence of drinking and driving.
