Joanne Chambers of Home The FHA leared about the upkeep of home and, more. The average person doesn’t know too much about the upkeep of their own home, and that is really a shame. The members of the FHA take pride in what they learn because it is something that they will need to know for the rest of their lives. Mrs. Kane was the advisor for this club, and she was always there ready and willing to share the art of making your home the way you want it to be and keeping it that way. Sport Using Knowledge? The academic bowlers compete using knowledge. This was the first year that the Academic Bowl team existed here at MHS. Mrs. Kugel led the group into its first season. The team was made up of seniors chosen according to their thirst for knowledge and their ability to endure and understand the mind- boggling questions which were the basis of the game. The team fared well, and their first season as Academic Bowlers was as successful as could be hoped. From left to right: Kenny McVicker. Sharlyn Brenegan, Leslie McCommons. With the leadership of Mrs. Kane as well as President Tim Andrews, the Student Council worked on many new and innovative ideas. In the past years Mrs. Woodruff spoke over the intercom during the morning announcements, but this year Tim Andrews did them. This worked out because the students seemed interested and knew what activities were going on around MHS. They also worked hard and organized the Blood Drive. This was definitely a time-consuming yet worthwhile cause. The senior members were Renee’ Brackin, Tim Andrews, Sharlyn Brenegan, Tom DelleDonne, Michelle Hughes. Leadership, Service... They work for the school. The National Honor Society is composed of high school students throughout the country. The members of the group are chosen on the basis of Leadership, Scholarship, Service, and Academic Standing. Among the activities of the MHS chapter were the annual auction, the Angel Tree, the Thanksgiving Day canned good drive, and general volunteer work. The proceeds from the activities were given to individuals who needed it. A new project for the year was the Angel Tree. The members of the Honor Society set out to collect money for Christmas for the children of the Smyrna Correctional Center’s inmates. First row. l.-r.,: Renee’ Brackin. Denise Fleming. Mary Pearl.
