“Middletown, Delaware” “(Where’s Delaware?)” Where: 504 South Broad Street When: September 4, 1986—June 12, 1987 What: Middletown High School took part in an exciting year of education, sports, trips, other school-related ac- tivities, new relationships, preparation for the future, experiences with pain, happiness, loss, and love, and more. Who: 563 students, 69 teachers and staff, and the Middletown community. Why: It was the state law that stu- dents be reauired to attend 180 days of school and teachers attend 185 days of school. At MHS, those days were filled with daily classes, enrichment programs and extracurricular activi- ties. This was the place where adult- hood became more of a reality. From the first day of high school until gradu- ation, it was only four short years of acquiring all the necessary knowledge for functioning independently in soci- ety. School was more than cramming for that last test. Rather, it was the beginning of a new world where more responsiblities were placed on stu- dents—responsibilities which required rational thinking and problem solving abilities. At MHS, the students and teachers worked hard to become more aware of all their capabilities as indi- viduals having much to contribute to the community. This educational pro- gram was rigorous at times, but the Classic Cavaliers possessed the initia- tive to seek their full potential. Do all your classwork and home work and study hard, but most of all. listen to your teachers because they care.” Be your own person, and don't worry about what everyone else says and does. Get involved so that you make more friends and have more fun. Go with the flow. 9
