Mr. Charles Dean Brunjes Band doesn't always occupy Mr. Brunjes time. There are times when he can be found golfing, watching baseball, or even bowling. “Mr. B. is a sponsor of the Junior and Senior Bands and teaches General Music and World History. Mr. Marvin Day lives a dangerous life — teaching Driver’s Ed. He coaches both the boys and girls Senior High basketball teams and does a very fine job of it. Mrs. Wanda Bartlett not only enjoys her plants, but finds time to sew, collect antique glassware and bottles, and garden. Mrs. Bartlett is mainly involved with the ninth grade, teaching Consumer Ed. and General Business. Mrs. Donna Carr winds her timer, pumps her organ, and tunes her ears into “good” music. With her scedule of sponsoring the TIGER-ETTE staff and the tenth grade, she manages to teach Typing I and II, Shorthand, and Bookkeeping. Mr. Daniel Bufford is really into physical fitness. He teaches P.E. and Biology. He gets his exercise with outdoor sports such as hunting and fishing. Mr. Bobby Bigham isn’t only the eighth grade sponsor, but an All-American, too. He enjoys Civil War relics and teaching American History. Coach is known around MHS for his leadership of our football team. Mrs. Patricia Gilbert not only sponsors the Seniors, but along with that, the annual staff. Mrs. Gilbert teaches Junior and Senior English. Her hobbies of boating, skiing, and needlepoint keep her busy. Miss Gertrude Copeland says she likes teaching because she likes “laughing, crying, and helping students everyday.” Her subjects, Health and P.E., keep her involved in her hobby of playing basketball. In the words of this Senior class sponsor, “They aren’t all so bad!” ♦ 6

When asked her reason for being a teacher, her reply was, ‘‘Believe it or not, I like young people!” Mr. R. M. McAnulty has a busy schedule of teaching General Business and Trade all day. He likes building, making and creating things with his hands. Mr. Mac is the sponsor of the tenth grade and the Vica Club. Mrs. Rosa Hamer is surrounded by one of her hobbies — books. Some of her other hobbies are cooking, sewing, and watching people. Mrs. Hamer sponsors the Library Club. She wanted to be a teacher ‘‘so that I could share what I have learned and my experiences with the young.” Miss Helen Johnson is another of our new English teachers. She has quite a few hobbies, such as sewing, latch hook, needlepoint, and ceramics. Miss Johnson is our ninth grade sponsor and teaches Sophomore and Junior English and Literature.
