But all things must soften with age, f have seen, They faded to light blue, and then they were JEANS! They've seen me in love, out of love, mixed up inside, They’ve seen me in trouble; they’ve seen me lie. They’ve aged oh too quickly, some places just threads. But I plan to wear them ’til they’re in shreds. Well, summer's heat is with me now, my scissors..... As I cut off my blue jeans, it’s like killing a friend! Darla House Mr. Charles Dean Brunjes Band doesn't always occupy Mr. Brunjes time. There are times when he can be found golfing, watching baseball, or even bowling. “Mr. B. is a sponsor of the Junior and Senior Bands and teaches General Music and World History. Mr. Marvin Day lives a dangerous life — teaching Driver’s Ed. He coaches both the boys and girls Senior High basketball teams and does a very fine job of it. Mrs. Wanda Bartlett not only enjoys her plants, but finds time to sew, collect antique glassware and bottles, and garden. Mrs. Bartlett is mainly involved with the ninth grade, teaching Consumer Ed. and General Business. Mrs. Donna Carr winds her timer, pumps her organ, and tunes her ears into “good” music. With her scedule of sponsoring the TIGER-ETTE staff and the tenth grade, she manages to teach Typing I and II, Shorthand, and Bookkeeping. Mr. Daniel Bufford is really into physical fitness. He teaches P.E. and Biology. He gets his exercise with outdoor sports such as hunting and fishing. Mr. Bobby Bigham isn’t only the eighth grade sponsor, but an All-American, too. In the words of this Senior class sponsor, “They aren’t all so bad!” ♦ 6 Miss Diane Hill is our new English and eighth grade sponsor. She likes reading and needlepoint. When asked her reason for being a teacher, her reply was, ‘‘Believe it or not, I like young people!” Mr. R. M. McAnulty has a busy schedule of teaching General Business and Trade all day. He likes building, making and creating things with his hands. Mr. Mac is the sponsor of the tenth grade and the Vica Club. Mrs. Rosa Hamer is surrounded by one of her hobbies — books. Some of her other hobbies are cooking, sewing, and watching people. Mrs. Hamer sponsors the Library Club. She wanted to be a teacher ‘‘so that I could share what I have learned and my experiences with the young.” Miss Helen Johnson is another of our new English teachers. She has quite a few hobbies, such as sewing, latch hook, needlepoint, and ceramics. Miss Johnson is our ninth grade sponsor and teaches Sophomore and Junior English and Literature. Mrs. Annie Hudson says she enjoys working with the young people at the church and in her community and wanted to help direct their lives. She is a Title I teacher of Language, Arts, and Math. Mrs. Genette McKinney teaches seventh and eighth grade math. She enjoys painting and doing things with her hands. Mrs. Peggy Henry has her hands full with teaching Cosmetology and sponsoring the Vica Club and the Junior Class. She feels this is her opportunity to teach skill and profession. The club’s twenty-two members have really gone out to make the library an asset to the students of MHS. Among the member’s duties are the shelving of books, helping students find books and the general maintenance of the room. The club culminated its year with a recreational and educational trip which will be the highlight of the year’s activities. Edith Sisco is hard at work! STUDENT COUNCIL We tried, but we couldn't do it! The Student Council of MHS is a governing organization composed of elected representatives from the upper four classes. The purposes of this group are to foster a spirit of cooperation between the student body and the administration, coordinate and regulate student activities, maintain a high standard of personal conduct by example, promote and encourage activities for the best interest of the school, and develop good citizens through providing experiences in democratic living. A good progressive student council is a great asset to the students as well as to the faculty. MHS Student Council Representatives: standing L to R: Jeff Capshaw. Carla Perkins. Patricia Reaves. And all our fears are reality; this can’t be happening, no, not to me. It’s time to leave school days behind and greet the world head on; Our adulthood comes shining through, our talents must be shown.
