All of the graduates were waiting in the auditorium receiving instructions and anxiously waiting for the music to begin. Then the music started, and we were marching in, as if in a dream, to the music of Pomp and Circum- stance. Garnett Quesinberry, our class president, offered the welcome and announced the theme and then the speakers for the evening. Janet Shackelford gave the Salutatorian speech, To Strive g Garnett Quesinberry spoke on To Seek , David South spoke on To Find , and Robert Stewart gave the Valedictorian speech, Not To Yield. With the completion of the speeches Tommie Miller presented a record player to Mr. Major who accepted the gift from the senior class for the school. Awards were then presented to outstanding members ofthe senior class by Mr. Major. After the presentation of awards, we stood to sing the class song, May You Always. Finally, the big moment came and with the assistance of Dolly Wilson, our class secretary, Mr, Major presented the diplomas. As we walked from the gym that night, there were both feelings of sadness and happiness in our hearts, For we had conquered one stepping stone on our journey. This was a completion, yet at the same time it was a beginning. This was our opportunity to take another step in the direction of our life's star,
