' my Y t Mrg Petrides, who taught Englishat the Perth Amboy school, was able -to , inspire hisestudents with the Same ' desire for excellence that he exhibiited in his own workj' But Students and l fellow-teachers alike Will remember Mr. Petrides best for his- kindliness end for the unique Warmth of his ' personality, r i Mr. Basill M. Petrides Dedication We, the Class of l967, take great pleasure in dedicating this yearbook to Mr. Louis B. Migliorini, President of our Boa rd of Education. He has been a faithful and loyal member of the Board for over twenty-three ye ar s . Such un- selfish devotion to the be s t interests of our s c hoo l s and the people they serve really de s e r ve s far more recognition than it is within our power to give. Nevertheless, insofar as we are able to express it, we want shim to know that we are very proud of him and appreciate his constant c one e rn for our welfare. Someone has s aid , You are on the pathway to a successful life when you do more for the community than the com- munity doe s for you. This statement applie s to no man more than to Mr. Migliorini. His many years on the ,voca- tional school board is but one example of the kindof community service he has rendered willingly and conscientiously. Because of his many contributions to the betterment of the community he is ad- mired and r e s p e cte d by all who know him. Our schools have been most fortunate over the years to have many Board members with the ability and s en s e of responsibility of Mr. Migliorini. As long as men such as he render public service, we can have confidence in the future of our schools. 7 W it ,fa 1' i a WW W X Over thirty-six ye ar s ago a young man came to ou r vocational schools -to teach relate d mathematics. He was a m ac hini s t by trade. His name was 1. Arthur Lewis. Mr. Lewis liked teaching and his stu- dents benefited, not only from his ability to te ac h , but from his ability to relate what he was t e a c h i n g to his practical experience in in du s t r y. He liked boys and they liked him.' A fine working relationship wa s developed of mutu al respect and confidence. Mr. Lewis began to improve himself professionally. He studied, took college courses, earned a bachelors and then a master's degree. He earned the neces- X f WA Upon Retirement sary State c e rtific ation, not only for teaching, but also for supervisory work. Eventually he rose to positions of responsibility as evening school principal and day school principal. When Mr. Lewis retires at the end of this school year he will be sorely missed, not only for his constant devo- tion to the pupils he serves, but also as a champion of vocational education. Mr. Lewis represents the fine s t in experi- enced, dedicated, and loyal service to our schools. We have enriched our lives by knowing him. We wish him well. We hope that he h a s many ye a r s of good health and well -earned rest infhis retirement. XX Q i ' , A hx! L.
