' M. ,f , , BOYS' GLEE CLUB DIRECTOR-MISS HUBBARD The Boys' Glee Club came in second in the Music Contest in Pineville. They sang Keep in the Middle of the Road. Charles Farmer won the bass solo and Eugene Ramsey won the baritone solo. Billy Covey came second in the tenor solo. Midd1esboro's male quartet won first place, being represented by Hansford Enix, Billy Covey, Eugene Ramsey, and Charles Farmer. The mixed octet came second- the boys' half being composed of Billy Covey, Bud Farmer, Fred Lipps, and Charles Farmer. Both Glee Clubs strive to teach every member to enjoy, appreciate and render good music. -37..

o DRAMATICS SPONSOR-Mlss TOLMAN The Dramatics Club which has been a thriving activity for the past several years, has upheld its reputation again this year. This club 'meets every Monday and Wednesday, putting into practice on the stage on Monday that which has been learned in the Wednesday class. The Drainatics Club is very beneficial to the stu- dents, inasmuch as it bestows upon them the gift of stage presence and poise. GIRLS' GLEE CLUB DIRECTOR-QMISS HUBBARD The thirty-six girls in the Glee Club came second in the District Music Contest. Their number was 'tJubilate by Kzerulf. The mixed chorus, singing Sourwood Mountain, also placed second. Hansel Minton sang the 'mezzo soprano solo and Jane Mars won second place in the alto solo. The girls' trio, Mildred Williams. Christine Harris, and Mary Harmon Wilson, also entered the contest. Virginia Cos- tanzo, Nancy Lee Chandler, Esther Stern, and Geneace Anderson composed the girls' half of the mixed octet, which came second. The mixed quartet-Dorothy Jean Hoe, Hansel Minton, Hansford Enix and Charles Farmer came in third in the contest. -33-
