ka t! BAND DIRECTOR ... ... V. T. Medcalf DRUM MAJOR . . . . . . Gai-us W'hitfield SPONSOR .. ..... Jane Mazs The Mlddlesioro School Band is composed of sixty members. It is directed by Mr. V. T. Medcalf, who reorganized it in 1933 with only about twenty-five members. The band won the champfonship last year in the B class in the district of South- eastern Kentucky. This year the band is playing for the contest number of the HB' class, the Intermezzo from the L'Arlezienne by George Bizet. Each year the band is represented in the Kentucky Band Clinic at Louisvilleg this year twelve members were there. In the District Contest in Pineville, the Band was rated superior and tied Harlan. Both bands will go to the State Music Contest in Lex- ington. The three singers were Misses Ruth Castle, Hansel Minton and Frances Huff.
