'P tecwvicC In the 1962 MIDDIETTE you will find pictures of trees - trees that represent the administration, the faculty, your activities and entertainment, and even you yourself. In the years to come you will look back at this book, and, through its pictures and words, will relive these all-important days when you were changing from a young sapling into a strong, tall tree. That is our purpose in composing this book for you - to preserve forever the memories of the fun, excitement, and hard work that have made up your school days. These students were taught by Mrs. Oberlin and Mrs. Oesch. Between the first and sixth grades, our other teachers were Mrs. West. Miss Kauffman, Mrs. Lantz, Mrs. Copp, Mr. Yoder, and Mrs. Bontrager. Barbara Wantz also joined our class. In 1957, fifty-one bewildered students entered junior high for the first time. It was quite a change moving form class to class compared to having only one teacher in the first six grades. In the eighth grade Billy Miller and Ernie Miller joined our class. As we entered high school, we added nine new students from York. They were: Michele Carson, Barbara Weltz, Nancy Yoder, Rose Ann Whetstone. Leonard Beachy, Harry Roderick, Steven Smeltzer, David Yoder, and Nelson Wutherick. Dave Whetstone also entered high school with us. In our sophomore year we chose our class rings, and during our junior year we chose our sweaters and class colors which were light blue and white. In April we presented the play Thunder on Sycamore Street. For the Junior-Senior Banquet w£ used the theme Moonlight and Roses. The banquet was held at Miller's Country Restaurant. We will never forget the style show we gave for it was a huge success. Our sponsors that year were Mr. Fisher and Mr. Hoover. It was during that year that we added three new members to the class of '62. They were Bessie Markin. Patricia Thursby, and Diane Keifer. Our last year, as seniors, was certainly the most exciting of all. In September, we added the final member to our class. Tom Bontrager. In October we gave the play The Imaginery Invalid. After months of preparation we spent four wonderful and exciting days in New York City. Then came Baccalaureate and Commencement, the last activities of the class of '62. Of the 37 graduating seniors, 20 had attended M. H. S. all 12 years. 22 7-4 S TOM... I, LEONARD BEACHY, will my mean streak to VERONICA YUTZY and MARY ANN MILLER.
