FOREWORD We are publishing this book with the intention of bringing to you, the reader, a glimpse of our school life. We have not followed a definite illustrated theme. F 1 R S T G R A D E CLASS HISTORY In the fall of the year 1946. forty-nine children joined the ranks of first grade Babies at Middle-bury Community School. Unaware that eighteen of us would graduate from this school in 1958. we scrambled through the first grade with our teachers. Kirs. Nihart and Mrs. Hershberger. In the second through the sixth grades we had the following teachers: second, Mrs. Valentine and Mrs. Rhea Yoder; third. Miss Hooley and Mrs. Bontrager; fourth, Mrs. Lantz and Mrs. Bontrager; fifth, Mrs. Morrison,and Mrs. Bontrager; sixth, Mrs. Bontrager and Mr. Hoover. During these years five of our graduating students joined us. Nelson Miller came in the first grade. Brenda Kleckner came in the second. Catherine Miller joined us in the fourth, and Charles and Elva Miller came during the sixth year. Jon Bockus and Karen f isher joined us in Junior High School as transfer students from York Township. Mrs. Lounsbury was our seventh grade sponsor and Miss Yoder and Mr. Diener served as our eighth grade sponsors. At last the day came when we were in High School. As Freshmen, our sponsors were again Miss Yoder and Mr. Diener. Our Sophomore sponsors were Mrs. Snider and Mr. Diener. and Mrs. Speckeen and Mr. Hoover were our sponsors during the Junior year. We completed the very busy Senior year with twenty-five members. Tom Yoder was elected as president and Warren Lambright as vice president. Mary Ellen Kauffman and Wayne Lambright were elected as secretary and treasurer, respectively. Oir senior sponsors were Miss Hoover and Mr. Shellen-berger.
