What will become of the Senior Class? Every year at graduation time that question is repeated; only time knows the answer. Tonight another class is going out to make their way into the world. Shall we look ahead through the years and see what the future holds in store for them? The times: May 23, 1965 The place: Middleburg, North Carolina It's been eighteen years since the Class of 'L7 graduated. There have been lots of changes made since then; you'd never recognize little Middleburg. Over on the corner where Newman-Seaman's stood for so long is the home of Reavis' Hardware Stores, Inc. The store's Slogan: From Middleburg to New Zealand . Archie has done well, and all of us are proud of him. The post-office was rebuilt ten years ago. The new one is a beauty. There's a flag in front and a big gold eagle over the revolving doors. Post Masteress Othela Edwards is having automatic stamp lickers installed right away. This will classify our post office with the most modern in the county. Across the street the P. D. Q. International Broadcasting Corporation is owned and operated by William N. Brothers and is really putting Middleburg on the map. Its round the clock broadcasts are heard all over the world. Over on 5th and West Street stands the beautiful Baptist Church. Reverend Marvin Thornhill Breedlove, Jr. is holding revival services there starting Sunday night. The directors of the Odom Memorial Hospital recently announced the appointment of Jean Floyd as Supt. of Nurses. Miss Floyd received her Master's Degree in this field in 1958 and has been on the hospital staff since that time. : Those things you're riding in these days were invented by Wilbur Williamson. Williamson's latest design, to be produced next year, will be all glass and plastic and is equipped with collapsible wings and a built-in outboard motor. It can run on the ground, air, and sea. Wilbur is also the inventor of the automatic stamp licker you'll be using in the post office sSoone We almost forgot the Mayor! The town's leading citizen is none other than our own C. W. Poythress. Mayor Poythress' office is in the Town Hall Building on Main St. C. W. was recently elected Governor of) North Carolina. He has served as our Mayor for six years and through we hate to see him go, Middleburg will be proud when he assumes his duties as governor. The vacated position will probably be filled by J. W. Moody. J. W. has been Commissioner of Street Cleaning for some time now and everyone feels that he deserved the office. Commissioner Moody will launch his campaign immediately. Two of our girls, Lucy Anne and Ella Mae run a Tailoring and Dress Shop at 111 East St. They carry all the latest styles and are featuring a fashion preview this week. The show is to include the new plastic skirts and straw coats. The Middleburg Branch of the First National Bank is located right beside the Town Hall. President Tom Edwards can usually be found leaning back in his swivel chair, his feet propped up on his desk and popping his bow-tie. Tom is also Town Marshall and president of the School Board.
