Every year at graduation time that question is repeated; only time knows the answer. Tonight another class is going out to make their way into the world. Shall we look ahead through the years and see what the future holds in store for them? The times: May 23, 1965 The place: Middleburg, North Carolina It's been eighteen years since the Class of 'L7 graduated. There have been lots of changes made since then; you'd never recognize little Middleburg. Over on the corner where Newman-Seaman's stood for so long is the home of Reavis' Hardware Stores, Inc. The store's Slogan: From Middleburg to New Zealand . Archie has done well, and all of us are proud of him. The post-office was rebuilt ten years ago. The new one is a beauty. There's a flag in front and a big gold eagle over the revolving doors. Post Masteress Othela Edwards is having automatic stamp lickers installed right away. This will classify our post office with the most modern in the county. Across the street the P. D. Q. International Broadcasting Corporation is owned and operated by William N. Brothers and is really putting Middleburg on the map. Its round the clock broadcasts are heard all over the world. Over on 5th and West Street stands the beautiful Baptist Church. Reverend Marvin Thornhill Breedlove, Jr. is holding revival services there starting Sunday night. The directors of the Odom Memorial Hospital recently announced the appointment of Jean Floyd as Supt. of Nurses. Miss Floyd received her Master's Degree in this field in 1958 and has been on the hospital staff since that time. : Those things you're riding in these days were invented by Wilbur Williamson. Williamson's latest design, to be produced next year, will be all glass and plastic and is equipped with collapsible wings and a built-in outboard motor. It can run on the ground, air, and sea. Wilbur is also the inventor of the automatic stamp licker you'll be using in the post office sSoone We almost forgot the Mayor! The town's leading citizen is none other than our own C. W. Poythress. Mayor Poythress' office is in the Town Hall Building on Main St. C. W. was recently elected Governor of) North Carolina. He has served as our Mayor for six years and through we hate to see him go, Middleburg will be proud when he assumes his duties as governor. The vacated position will probably be filled by J. W. Moody. J. W. has been Commissioner of Street Cleaning for some time now and everyone feels that he deserved the office. Commissioner Moody will launch his campaign immediately. Two of our girls, Lucy Anne and Ella Mae run a Tailoring and Dress Shop at 111 East St. They carry all the latest styles and are featuring a fashion preview this week. The show is to include the new plastic skirts and straw coats. The Middleburg Branch of the First National Bank is located right beside the Town Hall. President Tom Edwards can usually be found leaning back in his swivel chair, his feet propped up on his desk and popping his bow-tie. Tom is also Town Marshall and president of the School Board. baad Anihd reddwebien Le sare yiwrk? There are fine buildings on the campus. The school is under the able direction of Principal Billy Boykin and Virgie Hendricks is chief dietitian of the cafeteria staff. Several new teachers were added to the faculty this term. Director of the Dramatics Dept., Miss Betty Neuresthenia Fort will present her final production next week. It looks as if the diamonds those Senior girls were sporting really paid off. Daisy and Belle are doing their part to populate the city and are still finding time to carry on outside activities. Daisy is President of the P. T. A. and Belle holds daily classes for the school bus drivers. The last of our Seniors is Juliarene Watkins. Juliarene is still at W. C. To the faculty, we bequeath our grateful appreciation for a task well done. To the incoming Freshmen, we leave some of the beams of our radiant faces so there will be some brightness in the school. To the Sophomore, Junior and Senior Classes of 1947 we bequeath our ability to learn. Tom Edwards would like to leave Hallie Lassiter but finds it impossible. C. W. Poythress wishes to leave his ability to sing to Dennis Lloyd. Billy Boykin wishes to leave his dramatic ability to Walter White. Marvin Breedlove and Archie Reavis would just like to leave. Jean Floyd leaves her half-holiday to anyone lucky enough to get it. Juliarene Watkins leaves to Ann Kearson and Ruth Fletcher, who are so serious and solemn on all occasions, her giggles to remember her by. Billy Brothers wills his comb to Wallace White. C. W. Poythress leaves his politeness to 0. M. Abbott. Betty Macon Fort wishes to leave her long hair to Hallie Lassiter. Belle Fleming wills her vim, vigor and vitality to Edna Poythress. To Ruth Fletcher, Daisy Brame leaves her ability to love only one man. To Sherene Breland and Maurice Fleming, Daisy Brame leaves her spirit to accompany them on their walks around the school building. To Ann Kearson, Jean Floyd leaves her basketball suit and her ability to control her temper while playing. To Anne Reavis, Belle Fleming leaves her brilliance and knowledge, knowing full well that she has need of them. Wilbur Williamson leaves his quiet ways to 0. M. Abbott. Ella Mae Curtis leaves to Edith Cobb her naturally curly hair. Othela Edwards leaves her glasses to Robert Burdick hoping that he will be able to see things clearer in the future. Virgie Hendricks leaves to Wallace White her neat ways. J. W. Moody leaves his wicked eye to Dennis Lloyd. Belle Fleming and Juliarene Watkins leave to Dennis Lloyd and Allan Van Johnson Faulkner their ability to chew chewing gum in Miss Pritchard's study hall. To Hallie Lassiter, Juliarene Watkins leaves her flirtatious ways hoping that she will have as many beaux as she has had. To Frank Best, who has been in school so long, we leave the school.
