CALENDAR , SEPTEMBER N C ' ' ' In order to find out I '- what happened at Q 3 ' school we'll take a ' ' peek at the diary of the belle of the gay nineties. Sept. 6-School opened with an assembly. Mr. Kohr has the same old, overworked speech. Hmm -- we have two men added to our faculty. f 2 if Sept. 12-Class officers 1----- were elected today and the problem of class dues was aired out. Sept. 15-This was the first football game of the year, and it was with Waynesburg. The score was 0-0. Try harder next time, boys. Sept. 19-Booster Club elected its officers. Sept. 21-Magazine sales campaign began today. Prizes will be given to ,the highest salesman. Sept. 22-We played at Canal Fulton, and the score 'was 0-0. We're getting in a rut. The first chapel was held today and Rev. Wearstler was the speaker. The Hi-Y boys had a hayride. Sept. 25-The P. T. A. enrollment drive began today. Sept. 26-Booster Club elected two more cheer- leaders. They chose Bill Hale and Joanne Seifert. Sept. 27-Freshmen initiation started today and lasts until Friday. The Freshies are regular vegetable garde.ns. Boy do the football fellows rate! They had a chicken dinner at DeMarsh's. Sept. 28-The student council held a mock presi- dential election today and Roosevelt won again by a narrow margin. The first edition of the Mid-Hi News came out today. Sept. 29-Brewster played here today. The Rail- roaders ran over us with a score of 12-4. The Freshmen-Sophomore Initiation Party was held tonight. OCTOBER Oct. Q-The Seniors are selling caps, stationery, Christmas cards, pennants and license plates. Boy, what aren't we selling? Oct. 6-There was no school today because of Teachers' Institute. Why don't they meet often? We played a mght game at Orrville, and lost by a score of 14.0. Some ii-1l of our fellows were in- jured. Oct. 10 - Rev. jacob 2 Kleiver, a missionary I1 - from Africa, was the 1 y X -J speaker in assembly 1 5' today. The maga- - , 'L zine sales en-ded with Ann Bovill as the high- 4 A- if est salesman. cg oct. ll-A new club is being formed by Mrs. x N- ,, T' Porterfield-the Girls' .-.1-iii Leaders Club. 1. i,i.l..i-in Oct. 12-The Sophomores gave a Columbus Day as- sembly. Boy, was that pure corn! Oct. 13-We played at East Canton and lost again by the score of 14-0. Maybe we could blame it on the day because it's Friday, the 13th. We had a pep rally before they left. We had a lecture about destruction at Halloween time. Oct. 16-All the classes selected their attendants, and the queen for the homecoming game. Wonder who's the queen? Miss Rodgers held play tryouts today. Name of the play is Who Wouldn't Be Crazy? The Hi-Y held its annual initiation. Oct. 17-Mary Ellen Parks is queen. Play tryouts were held again today. The girl's volleyball tournament is being held in the gym classes. Oct. 18--The Memoir staff was announced and Joyce Feller is editor. Oct. 19-Last night Tommy Cocklin died. We'll all miss him a lot. Report cards came out today. Oct. 20-The Girl Reserves has an initiation party. We had a pep rally this afternoon. The Mid-Hi News came out. Oct. 21-At our homecoming game we played Jackson Township and won by the score of 7-6. Everyone went mad. A spaghetti dinner and dancing followed the game. Oct. 23-Bill Cope play- ed piano, banjo, and accordion for our as- sembly. The audience l particularly enjoyed ....- his serenade of You Great Big Beautiful Doll to Miss Rodgers. X Z Q Oct. 24-The U. S: O. ' Q I drive opened today. Lf? 1 Oct. 25--The boy's foot- ball tournament began today. Oct. 26-We played at ,, Navarre and won by the score of 19-18. Boy are wc getting I good! The Senior girls are the champs in the volleyball tournament. Oct. 27-Wheel No school today because the teach- ers attended the N. E. O. T. A. at Cleveland. Oct. 30-Did you see the three sailors, Dick Egg Bill Cox and Bill Lilley? We were shown the movie, Throne of the Gods. The annual P. T. A. Harvest Dinner was held tonight in the Timken eHigh School Cafeteria. Oct. 31-The Juniors put on a Halloween assembly. The P. T. A. held a Halloween Party in the auditorium-Prizes and everything. Dorothy Ruch has been chosen the Judge of Student Court. Nov. 3-We played at Greentown and lost by the score of 14-7. Nov. 4-Booster Club had a party. Nov. 6--This is National Education Week. Seniors had another class meeting. Student Council held another mock presidential election and Roosevelt won again.

Roosevelt won the election. Nov. 8--Student Coun- cil has been providing music at noon for dancing. Nov. 9--Seniors won the football tournament. Football team was treated to a chicken dinner. A National Education Week as- sembly was given. Nov. l0-The Mid-Hi News came out again. There was an Armistice Day assembly followed by a pep rally. Nov. ll-The last football game of the season was played at St. johns. We lost by the score of 33-0. Nov. 13-There was chapel this morning. Rev. H. L. Spease was the speaker. The first all star girls' volleyball game was played today. Nov. 15-The Red Cross wanted blood donors. Basketball practice began today. Nov. l7-Hunting season arrived. Most of the boys had excuses for hunting. The Declamation contest was held in the auditorium. Nov. 20-The Sixth War Loan drive opened today. The junior Red Cross drive started too. The teachers were late this morning. Did you sec Boyd Heminger in that Marine unifonn and Mil- dred Lenhart? Nov. 21-Snow, snow, the first snow this year. Nov. 22-The 7th and 8th grade gave the Thanks- giving Assembly. The Mid-Hi News ca.me out, too. The Seniors took a psychology test that lasted all morning. Give me an aspirin quick! I'm ready for a vacation now. The Freshmen had a class party. Nov. .23-Donft wake me up, Mom. lt's Thanks- giving vacation. Nov. 24-There was a Hi-Y Dance and Splash Party at the Canton Y. M. C. A. Nov. 29- Who Wouldn't Be Crazy? was a smash hit despite the last minute change in the cast. The cast presented orchids to Miss Rodgers. Nov. 30-The art classes are painting murals on the front windows of the school. Watch out! Don't spill that paint or fall off that stepladder! DECEMBER , ' ' - Dec. l--I sympathize ' ' with the Freshmen l because they had a ' X ' psychology test. There , f was an animal show . , , 1 I I , 1 f ' f ' presented by U. S. Dec. 5-Miss Green gave a party for the Student Council mem- ,l. l- - bers-theater followed by a swell dinner. Dec. 6--The Seniors gave a farewell party for Nel- son Havis, who returned to the Navy. Dec. 7--The Girls' Leaders Club had a party. The members were installed. The glee clubs have been practicing for the Christmas program. Dec. 8-We played Hartville here and lost by the score of 65-20. The scrap paper drive started today. Dec. 9-The P. T. A. held thc chili supper in the auditorium. Dec. ll--It snowed very hard today. Dec. l2-It has snowed so hard that there won't be any more school this week. The Navarre game was postponed. Dec. 15--We played at Uniontown and lost by the score of 45-22. Dec. l6-The F. H. A. girls had a party. Dec. 18-Back to school after our unexpected vaca- tion. Everybody is at music practice. Dec. 19-The annual Christmas program was held at 8:15 p. m. The kids turned in a swell perform- ance. Money was collected for wounded veterans Dec. 20-Watch the bir- die! The photograph- ers took our pictures today. There was a Xmas assembly and the speaker was Rev. Weber. The public speaking class gave a crazy skit. And I can't A forget Santa Claus ff fRoy Dickerhoofj and the ice cream treat. School's over for this year. at the program. fi JANUARY NJ Jan. 2-We are snow- l bound again and no K ' f 0' nf l school for the rest of the week. It's a lot of fun sled-riding. Jan. 5-We played a game at North Canton and lost by the score of 75-18. Ian. 6-We played at East Canton and fyou guessed :tj lost by the score of 72-35. Jan. .8-We're back to school again. What big assignments! Mrs. Porterfield's husband is home and so we have a new teacher, Miss Gilmore. Jan. 10--The Seniors have their name cards and boy, did we get mobbedj jan. 12-The buses were very late this morning. We played at Gree.ntown and lost ibut not by very muchj by the score of 40-39. Ian. 13-We played at Hartville and lost. by the score of fhold your hatj 85-30. Jan. I5-jWe arerequired to write an essay for the American Leglon contest. The title is The Attitude of American Youth, Toward Compulsory Mxlltary Training. Any how it's a timely sub- ject. We had a New Year's chapel today. Rev. Weber was the speaker. Jan. 16-The St. John game was postponed until Jan. 20. jan. 17-It is time for the contribution to the March of Dimes again. Jan. 18-lst. Mary Corbett of U. S. Army Nurse Corps visited school today. That girl has really traveled.
