The Competition Stops Here This year's soccer team was a surprise to all includ- ing their coach, Mr. Lucas. The young team showed tremendous effort said Coach Lucas. All of the team members were very enthusiastic throughout this sea- son. This enthusiasm showed through in their fan- tastic this season. This enthusiasm showed through in their fantastic offensive and defensive maneuvers to give them a record of 12-6-2. As a change from the games at Memorial Field, and because of the tremen- dous turnout of fans, the soccer team will play more night games in the future. Special honors at the end of the season were given to some outstanding mem- bers of the team for making CAL Division II. They were as follows: lst Team: Ron Hudanich-Defenseg 2nd Team: Rich Roach, Steve Hunter and Mark Sheltong Honorable Mentions: Bob Craver, Brian James, Chris Young, and Mike Soulen. All and all, The team con- sisted of many underclassmen with a few senior play- ers, two of which were captains, Ron Hudanich and Mike James. Many of the team members felt that hard work and determinations helped to give them a winning edge over their opponents, but when one asked them who helped the most, they replied, Jo.

Big Comeback JV soccer players started this year with many varied skills but nonetheless developed will as a team When Middle first played St Augustine they were defeated 6 0 However the re match was a different story, as the Panthers defeated their op- ponent 1-O for one of the high- lights of the year. The team ended their season victoriousey, winning against Oakrest, 5-0. This year's team was made up primarily of freshmen, with only two veterans. Peter Seeha- gen, a Swedish exchange stu- dent, was a welcome addition to the team, and Jennifer Jones joined the Panthers to make the group the school's only coed sport.
