First In State Once Again the Middle Township High School Marching Band has made Cape May County proud by capturing first place in the state in the Tournament of Bands competition. The Panthers placed far above any other New Jersey high school band at the Atlantic Coast Championship held November 25, 1987. The 1987 season consisted of one victory after another for the prestigious Panthers. On November 7, the Panthers won their eighth Chapter Championship with a score of 91.45. The Atlantic Coast Championship brought the Panthers a 94.1, the highest score ever received by the Middle Township, but left them just shy of first place. Although the competition season may be over, the Panthers are looking forward to their scheduled trip to Niagara Falls in May. A long, difficult job is now complete and the members of the band can hold their heads high, knowing that their hard work has paid off. This determination and dedication of the band members and staff are the real reasons why the Panther Marching Band is called The Pride of Cape May County. i
