The Piano Man If you think Billy Joel is just a shy. quiet, piano man. you definately didn ' t see him during The Bridge Tour. During his concert here at MTSU. Joel demonstrated the mus- ical ability and versatility (Sur- prise! He plays guitar!) that made him a star. Joel opened up his show with A Matter Of Trust from his latest album. He played a guitar during this song, but when the Pressure was on he moved to his trusty piano. Ir) fact, he was constantly moving during the entire show- from piano to keyboards and back again. Unlike most performers. Joel played many songs from his older albums. Among these were Inno- cent Man. Allentown. Captain Jack. and. of course. Piano Man. Modern Woman. Now Is The Time To Remember. and Baby Grand were some of the songs Joel played off The Bridge. He dedicated Baby Grand to Ray Charles, who re- corded the song with him. Because Joel is so talented and personable, his show was a huge success. He returned four times for encores. After the last one. he spoke some memorable words. He told the audience. If you re drunk, don t drive. Do what I do-call a limo. And whatever you do. don ' t take no shit from nobody! What a guy!

Mr. MTSU Outrageous! There ' s no other way to de- scibe the Mr. MTSU pageant. Alaino Delllues won the event which was sponsored by the Chi Omega sorority. The contestants kept the crowd of about 600 on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. During the modeling of casual clothes, one contestant came out wearing a T-shirt and a towel! The formal wear competition went smoothly, but after ten finalists were chosen, things got crazy again. The final part of the competition seemed at first to be simple and not at all unusual. Each of the ten finalists chose a question from a hat. Easy, right? Well, answering an im- promptu question in front of 600 people is hard. Especially when the questions aren ' t the average What do you want to do with your life? questions. One that was posed to a lucky finalist was, If you were a mixed drink, what would you be and why? The contestant responded that he would be a Long Island Tea. Why? It ' s well worth the money. It goes down smooth, and it hits just the right spot. Isn ' t that exactly what you would have said?
