The Warriors ended regular season with a 38-5 re- cord and a 21-3 mark in the conference. They complet- ed the regular season as the top team in Georgia. As they headed for the nationals, ABAC and another truth-is-stranger-than-fiction play ended the season and their hopes for another national title. For their efforts, Lee Burgess and Michael Turner were named to the All-Region 17 team. e Sports ¢ Sports ¢ Sports -@ Sports © Sports ¢ Sports : F ae (Sitting) Ellen Bracewell, Shelly Weatherly, (standing) Lurla Bryant, Doris Spillers, Kelli Johnson, Wimberly Coley, Angie Buchanan, Jennifer Hughes, and (not pictured) Kim Wilcox. be ¢ Sports © Sports ¢ Sports ¢ 116 ‘|: BBR ES orts © Sports ® Sports BA es ¢ Sports © Sports e fn Si i ue RT TI eR ORe sae i ea ae Si , New Beginnings NAN WS we . ‘Y { P NY A ) NAIA ye aN ' “ i! The Warriors went into the Region 17 tournament ranked as the number- one junior-college team in the nation. They came out of the tournament defeated and stunned. The Warriors downed Brewton Parker 11-8 in round one of the tourna- ment. In round two, ABAC sent the Warriors to the losers’ bracket 15-5. An 18-17 victory over DeKalb kept the Warriors’ hopes alive. MCC defeated the Stallions of ABAC 17-3 in a five-inning game, giving both teams a one-loss record. As it came down to a do-or-die game against ABAC, the Warriors were down 9-7 in the bottom of the ninth with runners on first and third. Rusty Brown hit a home run to assure the victory, but as he headed for the plate, in the excitement of the victory, Brown passed John Driver and the year was history. Lee Burgess and Michael Turner were named to the All Region 17 Team. Burgess was named to the Southeast All-district Team for their efforts.
